What
is Europa?
Posters
from a Continent
Europe is a word we regularly and confidently refer to. But
how many of us stop for a moment and ask what Europe actually is? That
is what The Danish Poster Museum is doing in the exhibition, What Is Europe? The
poster is a powerful medium and always tendentious, reaching out, as it does, for
an audience to communicate something very specific. In posters we find the
sense of self of the individual countries or of groups within them, elucidated
in a crystallised form. Overall, the posters provide a take on the history of
European mentality.
The exhibition can be seen throughout 2017.

We are delighted to announce that the Posters Network has been awarded a grant by Arts Council England as part of the Museum Resilience Fund 2015-8. This grant will support a research project based at the V&A, to investigate collection and curation of digital posters. We'll be thinking about the changing possibilities and characteristics of the poster, pooling the Network's expertise and seeking new skills and knowledge. We want to ask questions, test ideas and find practical solutions to the problem of how to collect, conserve and exhibit digital posters. We're looking forward to collaborating with you!
