What is the Posters Network?
The Posters Network aims to make links between UK poster collections and posters specialists, and to share knowledge, news and expertise.
In 2013 Arts Council England (ACE) awarded the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) a grant to establish a Subject Specialist Network for Posters. This grew out of a V&A project supported by the Museums Association to map significant poster collections in the UK, for the benefit of all those who wish to explore, collect, research and enjoy posters.
The following institutions have already contributed to, or expressed interest in the Network: the British Film Institute, Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, Imperial War Museum, London Transport Museum, Manchester Metropolitan University, Museum of London, National Railway Museum, People's History Museum, Shell Art Collection, University of the Arts London, University of Brighton Design Archives, University of Reading Department of Typography & Graphic Communication, Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Wellcome Collection.
The Posters Network encourages the exchange of practical guidance on museological issues such as cataloguing and access, storage and conservation, copyright issues and identification of printmaking techniques.
This site will open up that dialogue for the benefit of a wide-reaching community of poster specialists and enthusiasts. Please contact us if your collection would be interested in joining the Network:
